blogger feature: MaFashio

Hello everybody

So we haven't done this in a while and we apologise. Today's feature is about two sister bloggers Sekayi and Tukiya  from Zambia. I love their blog because they are involved in so many fashion projects in Zambia. If you want to know about the fashion scene in Zambia then be sure to follow their blog , twitter and Facebook page. From D.I.Y projects, modelling projects and Zambia fashion week ( talk about innovators). I also love the fact that if you want to know about the coolest events happening in Zambia you can be sure these lovely ladies will be covering it. We need more people like them.

Without any more rambling from me let the ladies do the talking

Please introduce yourself

We are the Ladies of MaFashio: Sekayi (Kahyi) Fundafunda, a bubbly Economics & Finance student and Tukiya (Key) Fundafunda a witty Law student. We regard ourselves  Fashionista and Company Director (MaFashio Company Limited).  We are based in Lusaka, Zambia.

Please tell us about your blog?

MaFashio was founded in June 2012, and started out as a street-style and personal diary of the people of Lusaka and the sisters’ respectively. The Ladies, through this blog, seek to showcase everyday individual’s fashion. The blog has since evolved into a platform to display the fashion lifestyle in Zambia’s capital (from events to photo shoots).

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is an art that cuts across different demographics. It is a way for individuals to boldly express themselves.

How would you describe your style?

Tukiya is three parts Bohemian and 2 parts ultra-modern and likes to have a go at DIY fashion. Sekayi has always been drawn to 50s glamour (hair, makeup, clothing), but also loves to play around with comfy, less structured looks.

Do you have any fashion icons?

Sekayi : I am inspired by Grace kelly, Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser al Missned and coutoure by Elie Saab.
Tukiya: I am inspired by Ashley Madekwe and blogger Blake Von D.

What inspired you to start blogging?

A desire to boost people’s self-image by letting them, and the world, know how good they look.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to start a blog?

We have learnt that you must blog about something you love – that will get you through the down days and give you longevity.

Why should people follow your blog?

Our Blog gives an insight into the Zambian fashion scene and that is what makes us unique. We also have a lot of fun putting content together and see our blog as a fun little get away for fashionistas.

Aside from your blog are you involved in other fashion related projects?

Yes, we are passionate about using fashion to help the disenfranchised in our community so we love to organise events that serve this purpose; MaFashio Company Limited provides makeup artistry and stylist services, as well as fashion related consultancy.

Thank you to these lovely ladies for agreeing to be featured on our blog. I love people who make a difference doing what they love.
